Greyserman and Schauffele Lead the Baycurrent Classic in Japan

In a day marked by rain, Max Greyserman and Xander Schauffele shared the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the Baycurrent Classic in Japan. Both golfers finished Saturday with an outstanding performance at the Yokohama Country Club. Greyserman, seeking his first PGA Tour title, and Schauffele, with an impressive record that includes two major championships and an Olympic gold medal, are tied at the top with a total of 12 under par, with a score of 201. Greyserman, who has led or shared the lead since the first round, commented on the difficulty of the day. “The conditions were tough and I didn’t adapt well to the elements, but tomorrow is a new day,” he affirmed.

It would be special obviously, my grandparents are here, my mother grew up here with her brother too. That’s far from now, but yes, thinking about the future, it would be an incredible feeling.

Schauffele, whose mother was born in Taiwan and grew up in Japan, expressed his desire to win in this tournament. “It would be special,” he commented on the possibility of winning on Japanese soil. At three strokes’ distance, there are five players who promise an exciting final round: defending champion Nico Echavarria, Michael Thorbjornsen, Byeong Hun An, Garrick Higgo, and Si Woo Kim.

With these conditions, I am very proud of the way I fought today to give myself a chance.

The tournament, unique in its kind in Japan, moved this year to Yokohama after being held east of Tokyo. The event, which debuted in 2019, was won by Tiger Woods.
