Adrien Saddier Wins the Italian Open

MONTE ARGENTARIO, Italy – Adrien Saddier secured his first title on the European circuit in his 200th start, thanks to an impressive comeback in the second half of the Italian Open on Sunday. Saddier signed a card of 66 strokes under par, finishing with a two-stroke lead over his French compatriot Martin Couvra (69), who led the third round and seemed headed for victory until Saddier achieved five birdies in seven holes at the Argentario Golf Club, on the Tuscan coast.

It was a wait. A lot of time passed before I finally had the trophy in my hands. But sometimes you have to work hard and go through dark times. You have to appreciate the journey.

Saddier and Couvra secured their place in the Open Championship to be held next month at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland. Calum Hill of Scotland and Dan Bradbury of England tied for third place, four strokes behind Saddier.
