Spain will host the Ryder Cup 2031
The Ryder Cup will return to Spain in 2031. The tournament will be held at the Camiral Golf and Wellness Resort, according to an announcement by Ryder Cup Europe on Tuesday. The resort, located in Caldes de Malavella, near Barcelona, was already the venue for the PGA Catalunya. It will be the second time Spain hosts the Ryder Cup, after the 1997 edition at the Valderrama Golf Club. The Stadium Course has been the scene of a DP World Tour event on three occasions, most recently in 2022, and also hosted the final stage of the tour’s qualifying school from 2008 to 2016. In addition, it will host the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship from 2028 to 2030.Spanish golfer Sergio García leads the historical ranking of Ryder Cup points with 28 1/2, while his compatriot Jon Rahm has become one of the stars of the European team in the last three editions of the biennial event. The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played in September at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. The event will be held at Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027, followed by Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota, in 2029. After Camiral, the Ryder Cup will return to the Olympic Club in San Francisco in 2033. With Seve Ballesteros as team captain, Europe won the Ryder Cup 14 1/2-13 1/2 at Valderrama. Ballesteros, García and Rahm are three of the 11 Spaniards who have competed in the event. Ballesteros and his compatriot Antonio Garrido were the first continental European players to represent Europe in the Ryder Cup in 1979 at The Greenbrier. Since then, there has been at least one Spaniard on the team in every Ryder Cup.Today’s announcement not only recognizes Camiral as one of the best venues in Europe, but also the considerable contribution that Spanish golf has made to the proud history of the Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup has grown significantly since Spain last hosted it in 1997. It is one of the most important sporting events in the world, bringing significant economic benefits and global exposure to a host region and country, so we couldn’t be happier to bring it to the Costa Brava and Barcelona for the first time, and to Spain for the second time.
