Changes to the Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony Due to Weather

Farmingdale, New York – Ryder Cup organizers have been forced to move the opening ceremony forward by a day, scheduling it for Wednesday at Bethpage Black, due to adverse weather forecasts.

Traditionally, the opening ceremony takes place on Thursday afternoon, an event where the captains reveal the lineups for the first session on Friday.

In this instance, the ceremony, presented by Carson Daly, co-host of the “Today” show, and sports journalist and former Miss America Kira Dixon, will begin on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The players will make their entrance amid great anticipation. Ticket holders for Thursday will be able to access the event on Wednesday.

The pairings for Friday’s foursomes session will still be announced on Thursday afternoon.
