Ryan Fox Withdraws from the Players Championship Due to Illness

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox withdrew from the Players Championship on Thursday due to illness, approximately five hours before the start of the tournament. Fox’s absence was covered by David Ford, who will now be part of the 15 players competing for the first time at TPC Sawgrass. Fox, who won the Myrtle Beach Classic and the RBC Canadian Open last year, is currently ranked number 44 in the world ranking. His withdrawal leaves the Players with 45 of the top 50 players in the world.
