PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Jon Rahm and Legion XIII defeated Bryson DeChambeau and the Crushers in a playoff on Sunday at the LIV Golf League team final. Legion XIII managed to tie the Crushers at 20 under par at The Cardinal at Saint John’s, while the South African Stinger team lagged behind with 12 under par in the three-team final. Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton birdied the last two holes of the regular round, and then sealed the playoff with a pair of birdies on the second extra hole against DeChambeau and Paul Casey. Rahm holed a 6-foot putt and Hatton had a short putt for the decisive birdies.

Tyrrell and I reacted a little late, but better late than never. When the tiebreaker arrived, I felt quite confident, we are both very good wedge players, and if we simply put it on the fairway, I was pretty sure we would give ourselves many opportunities.

Jon Rahm
Caleb Surratt, former Tennessee player, led Legion XIII with a 64.

It’s been a wild ride. I’m grateful to Jon for trusting me enough to have me on his team last year, and I’m very proud of the player I’ve become.

Caleb Surratt
Rahm and Tom McKibbin each shot 65, and Hatton had a 66.

Neither Tyrrell nor I had a great day today, and even throughout the week, I don’t think we played our best. But the youngsters were a sign of strength, playing well and also today. They took us to the end.

Jon Rahm
DeChambeau shot a 62.

He played incredible golf. He played incredibly. His driver was on an absolute roll, and the putter worked.

Jon Rahm
Casey and Anirban Lahiri had 65, and Charles Howell III closed with 68. Howell birdied five of the first seven, then lost three strokes. Rahm helped Legion III win the team event a week after successfully defending his LIV season points title in Indiana, a tournament where he closed with a 60 before losing a playoff to Sebastián Muñoz.
