Collin Morikawa broke a 28-month winless streak by being crowned champion at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a victory that came after a close final marked by wind and excitement. Morikawa, who at one point shared the lead with five other players, showed his composure on a day full of challenges.
An Unforgettable Ending
The atmosphere on the 18th hole, with the Pacific wind blowing strongly, added tension to Morikawa’s wait as Jacob Bridgeman dealt with a shot from the beach. With impeccable play, Morikawa achieved crucial birdies that secured his victory, including an impressive 4-iron shot from 235 yards. His final round of 67 strokes, with a total of 22 under par, gave him the victory by one stroke over Sepp Straka and Min Woo Lee. This victory is Morikawa’s seventh on the PGA Tour since he turned professional. It places the result in the 5th position in the world.I tried to think of anything other than golf. Fortunately, I had the best backdrop you could ask for, so it was very, very easy. For me, it was how to stay loose, how to stay warm, and not just think about the shot.
