Putting coach and mentor to Rory McIlroy, Brad Faxon, predicts a bright future for the golfer after his victory at the 2025 Masters, suggesting he could double his number of major titles.
McIlroy, who ended his challenges at Augusta on Sunday, achieved his first major triumph since the 2014 Open Championship. He had waited more than a decade for this victory, and even longer to triumph at Augusta National, where he first competed in 2011.
After an exciting final round that culminated in a playoff with Justin Rose, the Northern Irishman became the sixth male player in history to complete a career Grand Slam.

Faxon expressed his confidence that McIlroy has the potential to achieve even more success.
“He has played professional golf for more than half his life and nothing can stop this guy. Rory can double his major count. He can get to 10 wins. Something happened with the losses to build the resilience he has. It builds within what you need to overcome. He is an example for everyone.”

Faxon also commented on the pressure McIlroy has endured since 2014 to achieve this goal, acknowledging the difficulty he faced each year, especially since the first major of the year.
Faxon highlighted McIlroy’s intelligence and kindness, as well as his deep knowledge of golf history and the importance of this achievement for the sport.
McIlroy is currently tied for 15th for the most major championships won by men. Jack Nicklaus leads the list with 18 major wins, followed by Tiger Woods.
