McIlroy Evaluates His Next Appearance Before the Masters
Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy is carefully considering whether to participate in another tournament before defending his title at the Masters next month, following a performance below expectations at the Players Championship. McIlroy, who was defending the title at TPC Sawgrass, saw his preparation affected by a back injury, which led him to finish in a disappointing tie for 46th place. In the coming days, McIlroy will assess his physical condition to determine whether he will compete again before heading to Augusta, where he completed his career Grand Slam last year. The world’s number 2 also commented:I’ll see how my body feels.

We’ll see how I feel in practice and at home, and if I feel like playing at home, maybe I’ll add an event at some point.

He concluded by saying:I feel like it was important to get to the weekend here and play a couple of extra days. I’m glad I played four days and my body feels good.

The Masters will take place from April 9th to 12th. The PGA Tour events prior to the Masters are the Valspar Championship (March 19-22), the Houston Open (March 26-29), and the Texas Open (April 2-5).I feel like my game improved a little as the week went on, although the results probably didn’t reflect that over the weekend.
