Hideki Matsuyama leads the BMW PGA Championship after a standout day

Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama has positioned himself as the leader of the BMW PGA Championship after an impressive second round, where he achieved two eagles and a card of 64 strokes, eight under par. Matsuyama, who is making his debut at this prestigious event on the European circuit, demonstrated his skill at the Wentworth Club, accumulating 11 birdies and two eagles on the par 5 holes during the second round, which allowed him to reach a total of 12 under par in the tournament. Matsuyama’s performance included a 15-foot putt on the 4th hole and a chip-in from the edge of the green on the 17th hole, which catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard.

In second position, one stroke away, are three European players preparing for the Ryder Cup: Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg, and Justin Rose. Hovland, with a round of 66 strokes, stood out for his game, achieving three consecutive birdies and an eagle on the last hole.

Rose, for her part, signed a card of 66 strokes, with eight birdies, matching her teammates in the fight for the championship. Other Ryder Cup players, such as Rory McIlroy, who had a less favorable performance, and Jon Rahm, who managed to recover with birdies on the last two holes.
