Lottie Woad turns professional after outstanding amateur performance
The world’s number one amateur golfer, Lottie Woad, has announced her transition to professionalism. The decision comes after an outstanding performance at the Evian Championship, where she was on the verge of winning the title. The 21-year-old English golfer has left an indelible mark on the amateur golf world. Her recent performance at the Evian Championship, where she achieved a meritorious third place, just one stroke behind the leader, has been key in her decision. Woad had already proven her worth by winning the Women’s Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour on July 6th, with a six-stroke lead. Despite not receiving monetary prizes for their amateur status, their outstanding performance at the Evian Championship secured the necessary points to obtain membership in the LPGA Tour through the Elite Amateur Pathway. The golfer also confirmed her acceptance of the Ladies European Tour membership for 2026. Woad, who was a five-time All-American at Florida State University, will leave the university with one year remaining. Woad’s professional debut is scheduled for next week at the Women’s Scottish Open. The British Women’s Open, the last major of the year, will be played at Royal Porthcawl starting July 30.“I am very excited to announce that I have decided to turn professional,” Woad wrote on her social media. “I am delighted to have secured an LPGA card through the LEAP.”
