LIV Golf debuts in Africa with event in South Africa

The LIV Golf circuit will expand its horizons in 2025, venturing for the first time into African territory with a stop in Steyn City, South Africa, as part of a multi-year commitment. The event is scheduled to take place from March 20th to 22nd, according to the organization’s announcement on Saturday. The news was received with enthusiasm by South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen, winner of the British Open in 2010. Oosthuizen is also the captain of the Stinger GC team, made up entirely of South African players, including Charl Schwartzel, Masters champion in 2011, Dean Burmester and Branden Grace.

It’s always special to compete at home, and I am incredibly proud to bring LIV Golf to South Africa for the first time. For Branden, Charl, Dean and me, playing in front of our fans, friends and family will be an unforgettable experience.

Oosthuizen added that the South African public feels a great passion for golf and expects massive attendance. In addition, he highlighted the opportunity to give back to South Africa.
