Brooks Koepka Seeks Victory at the French Open

The American golfer Brooks Koepka, winner of five majors, starred in an impressive comeback at the French Open. On Saturday, Koepka achieved five consecutive birdies in the second half of the course, finishing with a score of 65 strokes, six under par. This outstanding performance allowed him to share the lead of the tournament, seeking his first victory in over a year. Min Woo Lee also stayed in the running, signing a round of 68 strokes and tying with Koepka at the top of the leaderboard with a cumulative score of 11 under par (202 strokes). A trio of players, including American Michael Kim, was one stroke behind the leaders, promising an exciting final round. Koepka is participating in his third consecutive week on the European circuit, after not making the cut at the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. His last victory dates back to August 2024 in the LIV Golf League, at The Greenbrier, West Virginia.

I feel like my game has gone in the right direction. The results haven’t come. I feel much closer. I’m happy with the work I’ve done in the last few months, and nothing has been proven, so I hope to have the opportunity to win tomorrow.

Koepka attributed his excellent round at the Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche mainly to his good performance with the putt. In his round, he achieved eight birdies, but regretted a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 3, after missing a putt of six feet. Lee, for his part, secured his first PGA Tour title this year by winning the Houston Open. Guido Migliozzi of Italy (66) and Marcus Armitage of England (71) joined Kim in the group one stroke behind. Kim completed the day with a score of 66.
