Lydia Ko and Lottie Woad lead the LPGA tournament in Orlando

Golfer Lydia Ko, a Lake Nona member, is at the top of the LPGA golf tournament in Orlando, Florida, after an outstanding round on Friday. Ko signed a card of 67 strokes, five under par, which put her in a tie for the lead alongside Lottie Woad. Ko, Hilton Grand Vacations ambassador and 2024 tournament winner, is the only player in the field of 39 women who has not made a bogey in the first two days. The Hall of Fame member has 23 LPGA Tour victories.

“I had to make some good putts for par, but I haven’t really put myself in too many difficult positions so far,” Ko, of New Zealand, said. “I think that’s the reason why I had two bogey-free rounds. I hope to continue that good momentum this weekend.”

Woad, for his part, completed the round with 69 strokes, tying Ko with a total of 8 under par (136 strokes). The weather conditions were mostly sunny, with winds up to 12 mph and a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

“I looked at the leaderboard quite a bit today because it was bothering me,” Woad said. “It seemed like there weren’t many low scores out there, so I knew I was still in the fight. The pins were probably a little more difficult, so there weren’t as many birdies as yesterday.”

The 22-year-old English golfer, Woad, won the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open last year, weeks after taking the KPMG Women’s Irish Open as an amateur on the Ladies European Tour. Nasa Hataoka and Amy Yang were one stroke behind the leaders. Defending champion A Lim Kim is at six under par. Youmin Hwang and Ingrid Lindblad are also in that position. Jeeno Thitikul and Nelly Korda, both at the top of the ranking, are at five under par.

“I think the weather is going to get a little worse, so I’m going to go to the practice green, to the driving range because I wasn’t hitting the best today,” Korda said. “I’m just going to sort some things out before the weekend.”
