Sei Young Kim Leads the BMW Ladies Championship
South Korean golfer Sei Young Kim consolidated her leading position at the BMW Ladies Championship after a standout performance on the second day of the tournament. Kim, who started the championship with an impressive round of 62 strokes, maintained his good performance with a card of 66 strokes this Friday, accumulating a total of 16 under par, 128 strokes in two rounds played at the Pine Beach Golf Links. The golfer had a bogey and seven birdies, including three in a row on the front nine.Brooke Matthews, from the United States, placed second with a round of 64 strokes, the best of the day. Hyo Joo Kim and Rio Takeda shared third place, three strokes behind the leader. Matthews, a former University of Arkansas player, had a bogey-free round that included birdies on her first two holes and on holes 17 and 18.There’s a lot of pressure on the third and fourth days, but I’m not the only one. Everyone will feel the same pressure. But I just want to accept the fact and enjoy the rest of the tournament.

Minjee Lee of Australia, with 66 strokes, placed sixth, six strokes behind Kim. Brooke Henderson of Canada, with 68 strokes, and defending champion Hannah Green, with 69 strokes, are seven and nine strokes behind the leader, respectively. This tournament marks the start of two consecutive LPGA events in South Korea, followed by the International Crown next week. Last week, Jeeno Thitikul became the first multiple winner of the LPGA season, after defeating Minami Katsu in a five-hole playoff in Shanghai. Thitikul is not participating this week but will be part of the Thai team at the International Crown next week. After the International Crown, two more LPGA events were scheduled on the five-event Asian tour, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in Japan. It’s funny, I didn’t feel very comfortable coming into this week, playing in China last week, I really didn’t have my best game. But that made me go out and play shot by shot, lower expectations and I feel like I handled it very well. I just stayed in the moment, and ended up making some putts and accumulating good scores.
