MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Mackenzie Hughes of Canada shot a 69, two-under, in windy conditions on Friday, sharing the lead of the second round with Cristobal Del Solar of Chile at the Myrtle Beach Classic.
Hughes, who led by one stroke after an opening 63, had four birdies and two bogeys in his afternoon round at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
I’m in a good place heading into the weekend. There are a lot of guys with possibilities. Nothing changes tomorrow. Just keep doing my thing and see where it puts me.

Del Solar recovered from a bogey on the 8th hole, par 4, with a closing birdie on the 9th hole, par 3. He signed a 67 in the afternoon to join Hughes at 10 under par, with 132.
I’ve been working, playing good golf, feeling more comfortable. Happy to be where I am.

The winner of the PGA Tour event, held in parallel to a featured event at this week’s Truist Championship, earns a spot in the PGA Championship if not already eligible. That is not the case for Hughes, the two-time tour winner who is already in the field next week at Quail Hollow.
Nick Watney, the 44-year-old player who hasn’t won in 13 years, was one stroke away after a 67. Danny Walker (67) was also one stroke away, along with Harry Higgs (66), Will Chandler (69) and Davis Shore (66).
