Brooke Henderson Shines at the Portland Classic with a Great Round

Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson, a two-time champion, had an outstanding performance at The Standard Portland Classic, achieving an impressive 7-under-par round, with a total of 65 strokes. Henderson, known for her aggressive play, took advantage of the four par-5 holes, where she scored birdies. Henderson, who won her first title on the LPGA Tour at 17 in 2015, is looking to regain her best form. Although she hasn’t won since January 2023 and has fallen in the world rankings, her performance in the tournament shows promising signs.

It’s really important to hit a lot of fairways this week. You want to hit it really straight. I think I only missed two fairways today, so that was good. Hopefully, I’ll hit them all tomorrow.

Lately, my ball striking and putting are feeling quite comfortable and that’s exactly what happened today. I was able to swing with confidence and also feel great about the shots I made on the greens.

Haeran Ryu, Perrine Delacour, Arpichaya Yubol, Ashleigh Buhai, and Linn Grant also had good performances, staying close to the leaders. Amateur golfer Kiara Romero, from the University of Oregon, also had an outstanding performance, with a round of 67.

Everything was going pretty well. I was a little nervous on the first tee, but I still played pretty well.

Juli Inkster, the 65-year-old veteran, finished with a 69, demonstrating her skill in the tournament. The tournament The Standard Portland Classic is one of the oldest events on the LPGA Tour, with a long history since 1972.
