Brooke Henderson Crowned Champion at the CPKC Women’s Open

Canadian star Brooke Henderson has clinched her second title at the CPKC Women’s Open, surpassing Minjee Lee by one stroke. This victory marks Henderson’s first win in over two and a half years. Henderson closed the tournament with a round of 68 strokes, four under par, at the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, finishing with a total of 269 strokes, fifteen under par. Minjee Lee, Australian player and world number four, also made a round of 68. Henderson managed to break the tie for the lead with a birdie on the 14th hole. On the 17th hole, he followed Lee’s birdie with one of his own, thus maintaining the lead.

Henderson, who was also a champion in 2018 in Wascana, Saskatchewan, earned her 14th title on the LPGA Tour and her first since January 2023. The golfer is originally from Smith Falls, Ontario. Minjee Lee, for her part, won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June in Texas, achieving her third major title and the 11th title on the LPGA Tour. Mao Saigo from Japan finished in third place at 11-under par, after a round of 66. Akie Iwai, also from Japan and winner the previous week in Oregon, finished in fourth place at 10-under par. Aphrodite Deng, the 15-year-old Canadian amateur who was tied for second place after a first round of 66, had a round of 73, tying for 20th place at 4 under par.
