Nasa Hataoka and Chanettee Wannasaen lead the LPGA Thailand

CHONBURI, Thailand – Japanese golfer Nasa Hataoka and Thai Chanettee Wannasaen share the lead at the LPGA Thailand after the first round held at the Siam Country Club Old Course. Hataoka signed a card of 65 strokes, seven under par, matching Wannasaen’s performance. Hataoka, runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Open in 2021, has five individual victories in LPGA tournaments, as well as two titles in the International Crown team event.

I think my tee shots and iron play were pretty good today, and that’s why I was able to create so many birdie opportunities.

Gemma Dryburgh finished one stroke behind the leaders with a card of 66, thanks to a promising start with an eagle and three birdies. Dryburgh shares third position with Somi Lee and Hye-Jin Choi. The world number one, Jeeno Thitikul, and Lydia Ko achieved rounds of 67 strokes, placing them in a group of ten players tied for sixth position. Defending champion, Angel Yin, recorded a 69. Thitikul, 22, debuted in the LPGA tournament in Thailand at 14 years old.

I can’t believe how fast time flies. Yesterday I was sitting on the sofa in the hotel room and imagined, I couldn’t believe how far I’ve come from being 14 years old until now.
