In the U.S. Senior Open, Padraig Harrington achieved an impressive shot from 20 yards on the 18th hole, securing a tie at the top of the leaderboard. This dramatic moment occurred after a round full of challenges on the Broadmoor course, which included wind, rain, and a lightning delay.

Harrington Ties for Lead with Spectacular Finish

Harrington’s chip-in for birdie capped off a round of 2 under par (68), placing him in the same position as at the start, tied with Stewart Cink and Mark Hensby. Hensby, for his part, also had an outstanding performance, with four birdies and an eagle, totaling 19 birdies in the tournament. However, a par attempt on the 18th hole was unsuccessful, settling for par.

Cink, on the other hand, stumbled on the 16th hole, which led to a tie. He finished the round with two consecutive pars, placing him alongside the leaders with a total of 8 under par (202).

Thomas Bjorn, with a round of 66, the best of the day, is just one stroke behind the leaders, promising an exciting fight for the title between four players.

Steve Flesch (67) and Steven Alker (66) also had good performances, followed by Miguel Angel Jiménez (68) and Paul Stankowski (67). Billy Andrade, despite a difficult moment on the 17th hole, managed a par.

Harrington, after some challenges, including a double bogey on the 12th hole and a bogey on the 15th, achieved an unexpected birdie on the 18th, securing his place in the final group on Sunday, where he will seek to add another title to his victory at the 2022 U.S. Senior Open.
