Tommy Fleetwood Dominates Travelers Championship with Solid Lead
Cromwell, Conn. – Tommy Fleetwood showcased a flawless game, avoiding the mistakes that plagued Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas, to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the Travelers Championship. Fleetwood, who never missed a fairway, took advantage of the favorable conditions to record an impressive 63, putting himself in a prime position to seek his first PGA Tour title. Fleetwood, a regular among the world’s top 25 in the last two years, seeks to add a PGA Tour title to his impressive resume, which already includes seven European titles and three Ryder Cup appearances. His main competitors at the TPC River Highlands, under sweltering heat, are Keegan Bradley and Russell Henley. Bradley, the New England favorite and Ryder Cup captain, also signed a 63, while Henley equaled his personal best with a 61, a day after self-reporting a penalty. Scheffler and Thomas, who shared the lead after 36 holes with Fleetwood, suffered significant setbacks. Scheffler had a forgettable 29th birthday, starting with a triple bogey, something unprecedented in his PGA Tour career. Thomas, for his part, had problems on the 13th hole, which led to a quadruple bogey 9.Fleetwood demonstrated absolute control of his game, achieving an eagle on the 13th hole for the second consecutive day. This performance allowed him to separate from Henley and Bradley before the final round. The 34-year-old English player finished at 16 under par, with a three-stroke lead, the largest of his career on the PGA Tour. Historically, most players who lead by three or more strokes before the final round have won the tournament. Jason Day, with a series of birdies in the second half of the round, achieved a 67 and is five strokes behind Fleetwood. No other player is less than eight strokes behind the leader.I’m at the top of a lot of statistics for people who haven’t won on the PGA Tour, so it’s always nice to be number 1 in something.

You’re going to have to do something at least in the mid-60s, probably where I am, probably lower.
