Tommy Fleetwood Secures His Place on the European Ryder Cup Team

Despite not achieving his first victory on the PGA Tour, Tommy Fleetwood has secured his place on the European team for the Ryder Cup. The English golfer, after an outstanding performance, was unable to secure the win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, missing the opportunity to add a PGA Tour title to his resume. Fleetwood, who was leading the competition on Sunday, finished without being able to participate in the playoff, which was won by Justin Rose, who has also guaranteed his participation in the event to be held at Bethpage Black, New York.

Incredible to have these two back on the team! They bring so much on and off the field. Let’s go!

The top six golfers in the European team points standings as of August 24 will automatically qualify. McIlroy, Rose, and Fleetwood have already secured their place. Robert MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton, and Sepp Straka currently complete the top six. Shane Lowry, Rasmus Højgaard, Ludvig Åberg, and Viktor Hovland are in the top 10 and appear to be in a good position to be selected by the captain if they fail to secure an automatic spot.
