Steven Fisk Wins Sanderson Farms Championship with Stellar Performance

In a demonstration of perseverance and skill, Steven Fisk conquered the Sanderson Farms Championship, securing his first victory on the PGA Tour. Fisk culminated the tournament with an impressive final round of 8 under par, signing a scorecard of 64 strokes. The competition remained close until the last holes, with Garrick Higgo of South Africa as the main rival. Both golfers starred in an exciting duel at the Jackson Country Club. The crucial moment arrived in the final holes, where Fisk and Higgo demonstrated their composure. After a mistake by Fisk on the 15th hole, the tension increased. However, Fisk responded with a 40-foot birdie on the 16th hole.

“I went out today with the mindset that nothing would stop me,” Fisk stated.

Higgo, for his part, responded with a birdie of his own, followed by another on the 17th hole. Luck was not on Higgo’s side, who missed a short putt on the 17th hole, costing him valuable strokes. Fisk, taking advantage of the opportunity, achieved a birdie on the 17th hole and secured the victory with another birdie on the 18th hole, surpassing Higgo by two strokes.

Fisk’s victory, with a total of 24 under par (264 strokes), grants him a two-year exemption on the tour, a significant achievement for the 28-year-old golfer. Higgo, after a series of birdies, stayed close to Fisk, but ultimately fell short. Danny Walker and Vince Whaley shared third place alongside Rasmus Hojgaard. Hojgaard, Whaley, and Walker got a small consolation, as the result allowed them to improve their position in the FedEx Cup.
