WICHITA, Kan. – Adrien Dumont de Chassart, from Belgium, shot an impressive round of 59 strokes, 11 under par, at the Wichita Open, marking the fourteenth sub-60 round in Korn Ferry Tour history. Dumont de Chassart accumulated 12 birdies and a bogey during the morning round at Crestview Country Club, which suffered storm damage. Due to the humid conditions, players were allowed to lift, clean, and place their balls in the fairways.

Honestly, with all the rain and storms we had, I thought the course was in very good condition. The greens were rolling well. You still have some bounces on the green, which is quite impressive with all the rain that fell. It was ideal, right? 80 degrees, about to reach 95 in the next two days. Probably blowing at about 10 miles per hour at most. It was a good day to shoot 59, that’s for sure.

The 25-year-old player, an Illinois alumnus, broke the course record of 60 strokes set by Justin Suh in the final round of 2022 and tied by Alejandro Tosti in the final round of 2023. Cristobal del Solar set the Korn Ferry Tour record last year with a round of 57 strokes, 13 under par, at the Astara Golf Championship. Frankie Capan III and Stephan Jaeger have achieved rounds of 58 strokes on the tour. Dumont de Chassart started his game on the 10th hole and achieved birdies on the first three holes. Then, he achieved a birdie on the 14th hole, a bogey on the 15th, and birdies on the 16th and 17th holes, reaching 5 under par. In the first nine holes, he got birdies on the first five holes and used a 6-iron to get close to the 8th hole for his last birdie.

I played really well down the stretch. I missed a short one on 7, but that’s the good thing about golf, you feel nervous even on 4-foot putts, right? So I’m glad I bounced back and hit a very good 6-iron on 17, hole 8, to set up an easy birdie.
