Allisen Corpuz and Sei Young Kim lead the FM Championship
In the FM Championship, Allisen Corpuz and Sei Young Kim tied at the top of the leaderboard after the first round, with an impressive performance of 7 under par and 65 strokes. The competition took place at TPC Boston, where both golfers demonstrated their skill. Corpuz, who had a spectacular finish with four birdies in his last six holes, including a 10-foot putt on the 9th hole, managed to catch up with Kim, who had played in more favorable conditions during the morning. Nelly Korda, for her part, also had an outstanding performance, achieving seven birdies and finishing with a round of 67 strokes. Korda, who debuted on the TPC Boston course, has experienced a change in her game with a new putter, which seems to have given her positive results.Kim, who played in cooler conditions, was satisfied with his performance, although he regretted not being able to secure a birdie on the final hole. The course presented challenges, especially on the 18th hole, where Jeeno Thitikul, current world number one, suffered a setback. Thitikul, after a mistake on the approach of the 18th hole, finished with a bogey and a round of 69 strokes. In the tournament, two interesting trends have been maintained: the streak of 22 consecutive tournaments with different winners and Korda’s quest for her first victory of the season, after a successful 2024 with seven wins. Korda, with her round of 67 strokes, was in a group of players tied for third place, among whom are the Women’s PGA champion, Minjee Lee, Celine Boutier, Andrea Lee and Gurleen Kaur, an LPGA rookie who managed to qualify for the tournament. Korda explained that the change of putter was due to the search for new sensations and confidence in her game.I feel like golf is a very curious game. Although I haven’t had the results I expected, I’ve been very close all season. It was a good start and I feel like things are starting to change a bit.
