Corey Conners Withdraws from US Open Due to Wrist Injury
OAKMONT, Pa. – Canadian golfer Corey Conners was forced to withdraw from the US Open just before Sunday’s final round due to a right wrist injury. Conners, who is ranked number 21 in the world, was scheduled to play alongside New Zealander Ryan Fox. Conners’ injury occurred on a shot from a bunker during Thursday’s first round, and worsened on Saturday. Despite this, he managed a 3-under par on the front nine of the third round, which put him on the leaderboard. However, the injury recurred when hitting from a bunker on the 11th hole. According to reports, Conners was examined by a doctor for approximately 15 minutes and decided to complete the round. He finished with 5 over par in the last nine holes, recording a 72, two over par.Conners had achieved five top-ten finishes and ten top-twenty-five finishes in his first 15 tour starts, including a tie for eighth at the Masters.
