GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Stewart Cink showcased his skill by successfully defending his title at The Ally Challenge, securing his second victory of the year on the PGA Tour Champions. Cink outplayed Ernie Els in an exciting playoff, clinching the win with a par on the first hole. Cink finished the day with a card of 68 strokes, four under par, thanks to birdies on two of the last three holes. This allowed him to tie Els at the top of the leaderboard, both with a total of 15 under par (201 strokes) at Warwick Hills. Els, for his part, completed the last five holes with pars, closing his round with 69 strokes.

I’m not sure if this adds or subtracts years from your life, because it’s quite stressful. But if you’re the one who wins, if you’re on that side of the coin, it feels great. It was a lot of fun. I putted really well down the stretch. Ernie wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was just in the wrong place today.

Cink, 52, had already won the Insperity Invitational in May in Texas, beating Retief Goosen also in a playoff. In his PGA Tour career, Cink has accumulated eight victories, highlighting his triumph at The Open in 2009. The path to victory began with an impressive round of 62 strokes, followed by a 71 on Friday, which put him one stroke behind Els before the final round. Steven Alker (65), Cameron Percy (70), and Soren Kjeldsen (70) shared third place with a total of 12 under par. Retief Goosen (71) and Thongchai Jaidee (69) finished with 11 under par.
