Stewart Cink Successfully Defends His Title at The Ally Challenge

In an exciting golf day, Stewart Cink proved his worth by defending his title at The Ally Challenge, achieving his second victory of the year on the PGA Tour Champions. Cink surpassed Ernie Els in a playoff, thus securing the championship. Cink finished the tournament with a round of 68 strokes, four under par, thanks to birdies on two of the last three holes. This allowed him to tie Els at the top of the leaderboard, both with a total of 201 strokes, 15 under par, at the Warwick Hills course. Els, for his part, completed a round of 69 strokes and achieved par in the last five holes, which led him to a tiebreaker against Cink.

I’m not sure if this adds or subtracts years from your life, because it’s quite stressful. But if you’re the one who wins, if you’re on that side of the coin, then it feels great. It was a lot of fun. I putted really well at the end. Ernie wasn’t doing anything wrong and he was just in the wrong place today.

Cink, 52, had already won the Insperity Invitational in May in Texas, where he defeated Retief Goosen in another playoff. Throughout his career, he has achieved eight PGA Tour victories, including The Open in 2009. The path to Cink’s victory began with an impressive round of 62 strokes, followed by a round of 71 on Friday, leaving him one stroke behind Els before the final round. In the ranking, Steven Alker, Cameron Percy, and Soren Kjeldsen shared third place with a total of 12 under par. Retief Goosen and Thongchai Jaidee finished with 11 under par.
