Cink Crowned in Phoenix, Wins the Charles Schwab Cup Title

PHOENIX – Stewart Cink was crowned champion of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, a tournament that concluded the PGA Tour Champions season, held on Sunday at the Phoenix Country Club.The victory secured Cink the season’s Charles Schwab Cup points title.Cink finished his participation with a round of 67 strokes, four under par, finishing with a total of 20 under par, 264 strokes in total. He surpassed Steven Alker by two strokes, who led the ranking after the third round and also finished in second place in the overall season standings. Alker had a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 5, with a card of 70.At 52 years old, Cink secured his third victory of the season and his fourth in 36 appearances on the over-50 circuit. During his PGA Tour career, Cink achieved eight victories, highlighting his triumph at the 2009 British Open, where he defeated Tom Watson in a playoff.Freddie Jacobson (66), Jerry Kelly (67) and Tommy Gainey (68) shared third place, finishing at 15 under par.
