Stewart Cink Wins the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and Secures the Cup Title
In an exciting final round at the Phoenix Country Club, Stewart Cink won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, thus culminating a remarkable season on the PGA Tour Champions and securing the Charles Schwab Cup title.
Cink, with an impressive final round of 4 under par (67), finished the tournament with a total of 20 under par (264), surpassing by two strokes Steven Alker, who led the standings after the third round and also placed second in the overall season standings.
Alker, in an unexpected turn, made a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 5, closing his participation with a round of 70.
For Cink, 52, this represents his third victory of the season and the fourth in 36 appearances on the over-50 circuit. Throughout his career, Cink has celebrated eight victories on the PGA Tour, including a memorable triumph at the 2009 British Open, where he defeated Tom Watson in a playoff.
In a tie for third place, with a total of 15 under par, were Freddie Jacobson (66), Jerry Kelly (67) and Tommy Gainey (68).
