Stewart Cink crowned champion of the Charles Schwab Cup
In an exciting final day at the Phoenix Country Club, Stewart Cink won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, a tournament that concluded the PGA Tour Champions season. In addition, Cink secured the Charles Schwab Cup points title.
Cink, with an outstanding performance, completed the course with a card of 67 strokes, four under par, finishing the championship with a total of 20 under par (264 strokes). He surpassed Steven Alker by two strokes, who led the classification after the third round and also achieved second place in the overall season standings. Alker, unfortunately, suffered a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 5, closing with a round of 70.
This victory represents the third of the season for Cink, 52 years old, and the fourth in his 36 appearances on the over-50s circuit. Throughout his career, Cink has achieved eight victories on the PGA Tour, highlighting his triumph at the 2009 British Open, where he defeated Tom Watson in a playoff.
In third place, tied at 15 under par, finished Freddie Jacobson (66), Jerry Kelly (67) and Tommy Gainey (68).
