PHOENIX – Stewart Cink won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the PGA Tour Champions, which marked the end of the season, held on Sunday at the Phoenix Country Club. In addition to winning the championship, Cink also secured the season’s Charles Schwab Cup points title.
Cink finished the tournament with a round of 67 strokes, four under par, accumulating a total of 20 under par, with a score of 264. He surpassed Steven Alker by two strokes, who led the standings after the third round and finished in second place in the overall season standings. Alker had a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 5, with a round of 70.
At 52 years old, this is Cink’s third victory of the season and the fourth in 36 appearances on the over-50 circuit. In his career on the PGA Tour, Cink has achieved eight victories, highlighting his triumph at the 2009 British Open, where he defeated Tom Watson in a playoff.
Freddie Jacobson (66), Jerry Kelly (67) and Tommy Gainey (68) shared third place, with a total of 15 under par.
