GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Stewart Cink showcased his dominance at The Ally Challenge by successfully defending his title, achieving his second victory of the year on the PGA Tour Champions. Cink edged out Ernie Els in an exciting playoff, securing the win with a par on the first hole.
Cink finished the competition with a round of 68 strokes, four under par, thanks to birdies on two of the last three holes. This allowed him to tie Els at the top of the leaderboard, both with a total of 15 under par and 201 strokes at the Warwick Hills course. Els, for his part, completed the last five flags with pars, finishing his round with 69 strokes.
At 52 years old, Cink had already triumphed at the Insperity Invitational in May, defeating Retief Goosen in a playoff. Throughout his career, Cink has accumulated eight PGA Tour victories, highlighting his victory at The Open in 2009.
Cink started the tournament with an impressive round of 62 strokes, followed by a round of 71 on Friday, which put him one stroke behind Els before the final round.
In the ranking, Steven Alker (65), Cameron Percy (70) and Soren Kjeldsen (70) shared third place, all with a total of 12 under par. Retief Goosen (71) and Thongchai Jaidee (69) finished with 11 under par.
