Charlie Woods close to securing a spot in the Junior Ryder Cup
Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, is in a favorable position to earn a spot on the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team. The 16-year-old golfer is tied for second place at the PGA Junior Championship. Woods completed a third round with a score of 66 strokes, five under par, at the Ackerman-Allen course of the Birck Boilermaker golf complex in West Lafayette, Indiana, after a rain delay. His accumulated performance during the week is 12 under par, with a total of 202 strokes.Players compete for two automatic spots on the Junior Ryder Cup team, which will face the European team from September 23-25 at Nassau Country Club and Bethpage Black in New York. There is also a captain’s selection, although it is unlikely that Woods, ranked 20th in the latest American Junior Golf Association rankings, will be chosen.
This would be the first time Woods competes in the event.Woods had a mixed round on Thursday. He achieved three consecutive birdie streaks and a total of nine birdies, but also made four bogeys.“It was a lot of fun. I had a pretty good chip on 16, but I just enjoyed being out there, having fun, and hopefully I’ll have a good chance to win tomorrow.”

Badgett, from Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, is committed to Tennessee for 2026.“My round was quite up and down and gave me a heart attack. But nine birdies is pretty good. A couple of three putts, I made some mistakes today, but overall a pretty solid round. Good position for tomorrow.”
