In an exciting finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Brian Campbell emerged victorious at the John Deere Classic, adding his second win of the year on the PGA Tour. The outcome came in a tight playoff against Emiliano Grillo, sealing a day full of unexpected twists. Campbell, with a card of 67 strokes (-4), managed to beat Grillo in the first playoff hole. This victory consolidates Campbell’s outstanding season, who had previously triumphed in the Mexico Open, also in a playoff. The victory could secure his participation in the Open Championship, depending on his position in the world ranking that will be published on Monday. The tournament was full of ups and downs for Campbell. He seemed to be in control with three consecutive birdies at the start of the second round, but a double bogey on the 15th hole complicated his situation. Grillo, who also signed a card of 67, took the opportunity to take the lead. Campbell, known for his precise game, achieved a birdie on the 17th hole, followed by a two-putt on the 18th, finishing with a total of 18 under par (266). Grillo, for his part, tied with Campbell, forcing the tiebreaker. In the playoff, Campbell showed his composure with an excellent shot, while Grillo failed to get close to the green, and his par attempt was unsuccessful.

I gave myself a chance. I made good putts. I made a good putt on the 72nd and that’s all I can do.
