Bryson DeChambeau Evaluates the Future of LIV Golf
Golfer Bryson DeChambeau, winner of two majors, expressed his optimism about the direction of LIV Golf, although he acknowledged that the growth process is taking longer than expected. We are good with that. We are marketing. We have good partners with us now.

Despite the incorporation of sponsors and the recent announcement of events for 2026, LIV Golf’s television audience figures have not experienced a significant increase. According to reports, the audience for the tournament in Spain last weekend reached 334,000 viewers, while the Scottish Open exceeded 1.6 million.
Since the arrival of Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in 2023, LIV has not added any major figures to its group of players. At the same time, the league backed by Saudi Arabia has undergone organizational changes. In November of last year, the replacement of Greg Norman by Scott O’Neill as CEO was announced. Since then, O’Neill has implemented modifications, including a new request for points for the World Golf Ranking. The first LIV request in October 2023 was rejected due to the difficulty of comparing the league with other tours because of its 54-hole tournaments and the accounting of individual results for teams. Since then, LIV stopped its efforts to meet the conditions of the World Ranking, which affected the ranking of some players and their access to important championships. For example, Rahm currently ranks 72nd in the world.LIV Golf is committed to collaborating with the Official World Golf Ranking and its board to ensure that the best players compete in the most prestigious events in the sport. We are confident that our request addresses the outstanding questions to support a more global, comprehensive, and accurate ranking system. We hope that the review and approval process can move forward before the 2026 major season.
Scott O’Neill
When asked about the changes LIV could make to improve its chances of earning points, DeChambeau suggested the possibility of using relegation, more access routes to LIV and an “association” with a global tour that serves as a development system.I don’t know, do you think we should get points? I would say we have very good players in LIV. It’s important to follow the correct process, and I think Scott and all of us are looking forward to going through that process and doing it the right way. We are excited about that.

DeChambeau also mentioned the friendly relationship between O’Neill and the new PGA Tour CEO, Scott Rolapp, suggesting a possible collaboration to find solutions.Obviously, world ranking points are crucial. I think it’s important for us that these players who are joining continue to accumulate points. They deserve it. They are playing incredible golf every week, and I think having a system for us as players would greatly benefit the ecosystem of the game, especially for the fans.

I believe something good can be achieved for golf. I am very excited about the future of the sport. Currently, there is a lot of positive movement.
