Daniel Brown Conquers BMW International Open in Emotional Victory

English golfer Daniel Brown starred in a moment full of emotion by winning the BMW International Open by two strokes this Sunday, after experiencing a difficult personal time. Brown, who holds the 170th position in the world ranking, completed a flawless final round, with an impressive 66 strokes under par. This victory marks his second title on the European circuit, following his triumph at the ISPS Handa World Invitational in 2023. After sinking his sixth and final birdie of the day on the 18th hole, Brown couldn’t hold back the tears.

“I lost a friend last week,” Brown said, holding back tears. “This is for him.”

Brown revealed that his friend was his main motivation for winning at the Golfclub München Eichenried.

“I didn’t stop thinking about him for the last two days,” he added. “I tried not to get too emotional during the process. I’m really not sure what happened today. The whole day was like an out-of-body experience. He was with me, and that made it a little easier.”

Brown began the day with a one-stroke lead over his compatriot Jordan Smith, and made birdies on four of the first six holes. He added two more birdies down the stretch, finishing with a total of 22 under par for the week. Before this triumph, the 30-year-old player had not achieved a top 10 since the Qatar Masters in February. Jordan Smith, for his part, signed a card of 67 strokes and placed himself alone in second place.
