BREAKING NEWS IN GOLF! Webb Simpson and Nico Echavarría Withdraw from the Myrtle Beach Classic

Webb Simpson and Nico Echavarria have withdrawn from the Myrtle Beach Classic, the PGA Tour announced on Monday.

No reasons were provided for the withdrawals.

Nick Watney and Jonathan Byrd have been confirmed to replace Simpson and Echavarria, respectively. Chesson Hadley received a restricted sponsor invitation for the event that begins Thursday at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Simpson, 39, won the U.S. Open championship in 2012 and is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour. He is currently ranked number 380 in the Official World Golf Ranking. His most recent victories were at the 2020 RBC Heritage and the 2020 WM Phoenix Open.

Echavarria, 30, is a two-time PGA Tour winner. The Colombian is currently ranked 49th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
