Surprise for Golf Fans in New York!
Golf fans in the New York area could be in for a big surprise in the coming months. The PGA of America is giving away free tickets to the Ryder Cup to be held at Bethpage Black.
Under the name “The People’s Perk”, the PGA of America will distribute tickets randomly to New York residents, without prior notice of when or where, who are at Bethpage Black and at several other public golf courses on Long Island and the New York City metropolitan area.
The PGA Metropolitan Section will help select the public courses, and then the PGA of America will conduct random selected visits to distribute the tickets. There will also be a series of special visits to deliver Ryder Cup tickets to first responders and community groups in the area.
In both cases, the gifts will feature the presence of PGA of America leaders and special guests from the Ryder Cup.
The Ryder Cup will be held from September 28 to 30 at the famous Black Course in Bethpage State Park, which has already hosted two U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship.
The Ryder Cup is one of the most coveted events in golf, along with the Masters. The price of tickets for the competition days (which includes food and non-alcoholic beverages) was $750 for the 2025 matches, more than double what it cost at Whistling Straits in 2021, the last time the Ryder Cup was held in the United States.
More than 500,000 people registered to buy tickets. Tickets for match days (Friday to Sunday) sold out in a matter of hours.
The random draw will award 500 tickets per day from Tuesday to Sunday. Each person chosen will receive vouchers for two tickets.
Anyone who receives a free entry on practice days from Tuesday to Thursday can use the minor admission policy, according to which children aged 15 or under enter free with an adult with a ticket.
“The People’s Perk” is a special way for us to celebrate the unprecedented dedication and enthusiasm of the New York golf community by providing them with a memorable experience at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Don Rea Jr., PGA of America President
“The PGA of America is proud to share the excitement of golf’s largest team event with our host community,” Rea stated. “We are eager to welcome those fortunate enough to receive tickets this September as we all support Captain Keegan Bradley and the United States team.”
The Europeans won two years ago at Marco Simone, Italy, and have won eight of the last 11 times in the Ryder Cup. Their last victory on American soil was in 2012 at Medinah.
