He will do everything he can to help the team. He’s a humble guy, it’s never about Alex. He’s a good friend of mine. We practice together at the Bears Club (in Jupiter, Florida), where other players who will be on that team also train. So he has a great familiarity with many of the guys and I think that’s really helpful.

Alex Noren, last European vice-captain for the 2024 Ryder Cup

London – Alex Noren has been named as the fifth and final vice-captain of the European team led by Luke Donald for the upcoming Ryder Cup.
Noren had a standout performance in Europe’s 2018 victory at Le Golf National, where he earned two points from three matches played. His performance included an impressive 40-foot putt on the 18th hole to defeat Bryson DeChambeau in Sunday’s singles match.
This year’s Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black, New York, from September 26 to 28.
The other four vice-captains had already been appointed and were also present at Europe’s victory at Marco Simone, near Rome, in 2023: brothers Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, Thomas Bjørn, and José María Olazábal.
Noren is the only new vice-captain, while Nicolas Colsaerts was the only one who was not retained from two years ago.
It was a big surprise when I found out. I didn’t expect it at all. I want to bring a good attitude to the team. Bring some knowledge. I’ve been in this game a long time.
The Swede Noren will have a special connection with the Scandinavian players on the team: Rasmus Højgaard from Denmark, Viktor Hovland from Norway, and Ludvig Åberg from Sweden.
