Williams Confides in Solving Problems and Announces Improvements to the Car

The Williams team is optimistic about resolving the technical problems that have recently affected their drivers, confident that the improvements to the car will allow them to maintain their position in the Formula 1 championship. The team principal, James Vowles, has stated that the brake problem that prevented Carlos Sainz from participating in the Austrian Grand Prix has been identified. The solution is expected to be implemented for this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

Carlos’ problem, we are very clear about it, can be replicated in a test bench, can be understood, and for Silverstone we will have the appropriate mitigation.

Regarding the issues that have affected Alex Albon in the last two races, Vowles hopes to have a solution ready for Sunday. The team is working to fully understand the nature of the problem and conduct the necessary tests. Albon has been forced to retire in the last three races, first in Spain due to collisions and damage to the car, and then in Canada and Austria due to problems that, according to Vowles, have also manifested to a lesser extent in Sainz’s car.

La salida del GP de Austria fue abortada después de que los frenos de Carlos Sainz se incendiaran en el pitlane.
Williams is currently 19 points ahead of Racing Bulls, who are in sixth place, and 107 points behind Red Bull, who are in fourth place. Vowles has also announced that the team is preparing a major update for the car, the last of the season, which could be ready for the Belgian or Hungarian Grand Prix later this month.

We need to make sure the car is reliable, that we don’t have accidents and that we operate it correctly with the strategy, the pit stops, the engineering, etc.

James Vowles
Vowles is confident that the team can maintain fifth place in the championship, even with the current car, and that the improvements will only make the task easier.
