Vettel Praises Verstappen’s “Terrifying” Growth

The four-time Formula 1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel, has expressed his admiration for Max Verstappen’s evolution, calling it “terrifying.” Vettel highlighted the winning mentality of the Red Bull driver, prior to the last two races of the season, where the championship is still at stake. Verstappen, like Vettel, has achieved four consecutive titles with Red Bull. At 28 years old, the Dutch driver has the potential to surpass the German’s record before the end of his career. Verstappen still has a chance to win this year’s championship in the last two races, with a difference of 24 points compared to Lando Norris, championship leader, and the same number of points as his teammate at McLaren, Oscar Piastri.

I think what’s scary is that it’s getting better. We know it’s good, but it keeps getting better. It keeps hungry, keeps willing to learn.

Vettel also mentioned that Verstappen works hard, which makes him even stronger. In addition, he highlighted the driver’s innate talent, but emphasized that his strength lies in his mentality.

Vettel added that Verstappen remains calm in crucial situations, making few mistakes and performing at his best when necessary. Although he feels the pressure, like any driver, he manages to focus on what is important.

When asked if Verstappen will feel less pressure than Norris and Piastri in the decisive races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, Vettel answered in the affirmative, highlighting that having won previous championships gives him an advantage. The German explained that the first title is a great relief and that, from that moment on, the ambition to win more championships intensifies.
