Verstappen Endurance Debut at Nordschleife: "Green Hell" Awaits
Max Verstappen is preparing for his endurance racing debut this weekend. The current Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, is preparing to debut in an endurance race at the iconic Nordschleife circuit this weekend. This news marks a milestone in his career, as the driver has openly expressed his interest in exploring other motorsport disciplines outside of F1. Verstappen, after being victorious in the Italian Grand Prix last Sunday, demonstrating once again his dominance on the track, is preparing to face a new challenge. Previously, the driver conducted tests at the Nordschleife circuit, also known as “Green Hell”, using the pseudonym “Franz Hermann” to prepare for this moment. To participate in this weekend’s race, Verstappen will have to pass an exam on Friday to obtain the necessary documentation. According to reports, if he passes this test, he will be able to compete on Saturday in a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS. The goal of the driver is to advance and compete in a Ferrari 296 GT3 from the Swiss team Emil Frey Racing at the end of the weekend, which could be possible if he receives special authorization. Helmut Marko, advisor to Red Bull Racing, has indicated that this foray into endurance racing could be key to maintaining Verstappen’s motivation in the future. The Nordschleife circuit, known for its danger, was the venue for the German Grand Prix in the past and is remembered for being the scene of Niki Lauda’s famous accident in 1976.
