ZANDVOORT, Netherlands – Max Verstappen has clarified that his Formula 1 future for 2026 was always clearer than was publicly speculated. The four-time world champion confirmed before the summer break that he would continue with Red Bull, dispelling doubts about a possible move to Mercedes, where Toto Wolff had expressed his interest. Much of the rumors about Verstappen’s departure were based on a clause in his contract that was ultimately not activated, due to his position in the championship. Verstappen, who has a contract until 2028, assured that he never had doubts about where he would be.
He added that he is a relaxed person and does not worry excessively about these situations. For him, talking or listening to offers was under control. For me it was very, very simple anyway. I just say what I want to say. And I was never stressed about it at all because… of course, naturally, you always want to win. But at the same time, you just work on the performance.
