Max Verstappen expressed his disappointment at the decision to delay the start of the Belgian Grand Prix due to heavy rain, calling it “disappointing” and overly cautious.
The race, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. local time, was affected by adverse weather conditions at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, in the Ardennes region.
Lando Norris, who started from pole position, reported the difficult conditions via his team radio during the formation lap, indicating poor visibility.
After a second formation lap, the race started under safety car conditions for four laps.
Verstappen, after finishing in fourth position, regretted the decision, recalling a chaotic race at Silverstone.
Verstappen explained that the choice of car setup turned out to be incorrect, as it was not allowed to run in rainy conditions. The Dutch driver pointed out that the race should have started at its original time, given that the teams prepared for a wet race.We made a choice with the setup and we were only allowed to drive in almost dry conditions, so yes, it was a bit disappointing.

George Russell, for his part, although he enjoyed driving in the rain, highlighted the difficulty of competing with poor visibility. This for me was the other extreme. It just ruined a good wet classic race. Or we try to force a wet race or we say, you know what, we stop racing in the wet and wait for it to dry, but it’s not what you want.
Max Verstappen
As a racer, you always want to start. You love driving in the rain. But the fact is, when you’re going over 200 miles an hour coming out of Eau Rouge, you literally can’t see anything, it’s like wearing a blindfold. It’s not racing, it’s stupid.
