Max Verstappen Secures His Future with Red Bull Racing Until 2026

Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen will continue his career with Red Bull Racing at least until the 2026 season, according to team advisor Helmut Marko. This news puts an end to speculation about a possible move to Mercedes. The information was revealed on Monday, indicating that a clause in Verstappen’s contract allowed his departure if he was in fourth position or lower in the championship after the Hungarian Grand Prix, which will be held this Sunday.

After the Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen remains in third position in the standings, with a considerable advantage over George Russell, who occupies fourth place. This ensures that Verstappen cannot be overtaken in Hungary.

Max Verstappen's future at Red Bull has been the subject of speculation.
The confirmation of Verstappen’s situation came through statements from Marko to the German media Sport.De.

“Yes, I can confirm that Max Verstappen will race for Red Bull in 2026,” Marko stated.

Mercedes has Russell and Kimi Antonelli as drivers, but Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has not ruled out the possibility of signing Verstappen, the driver with the most victories in F1 since he won his first championship in 2021. Earlier this month, Red Bull dismissed Christian Horner as team principal and replaced him with Laurent Mekies. Verstappen’s agent stated at the time that the driver remained committed to the team despite the change.
