Max Verstappen, the talented Red Bull driver, has acknowledged that the new car design will require a period of adaptation as he prepares to regain the world title.
Last season, Verstappen’s dominance, who had achieved four consecutive titles, was interrupted in the final race in Abu Dhabi, where Lando Norris took the victory.
Amidst a series of new regulations, Red Bull faces the additional challenge of developing its own power units in collaboration with Ford for the 2026 season.
During the launch event in Detroit, where the new car design was presented, Verstappen admitted that he needed to adapt to the changes.
Verstappen went on to say that the drivers will need time to adjust and that it will be crucial to take advantage of the test days to accumulate laps. After almost erasing a disadvantage of more than 100 points, Verstappen is eager to maintain the momentum from last season, where the battle for the title extended to the last race.Everything is a bit unknown. It’s a very big change with the engine, the car’s dimensions have changed.

It’s always better to have an end like this. The motivation is very high, everyone is very excited to start this new chapter.

Laurent Mekies, Red Bull team director, acknowledged that the team faces numerous challenges in launching its new power unit. It’s going to be the biggest change in regulations in Formula 1 history, but that wasn’t enough. Mekies added that they decided to develop their own power unit with Ford, which is a considerable challenge, and that they anticipate difficulties and challenges along the way.A win in a race would be good, at least.
