Lance Stroll Sanctioned with Grid Penalty
Pilot Lance Stroll has been penalized with five grid positions for the United States Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday. The penalty is due to an incident in Saturday’s sprint race, where he collided with Esteban Ocon. The crash occurred at Turn 1 when Stroll tried to overtake Ocon. The stewards determined that Stroll was responsible for the incident.In addition to the grid penalty, Stroll also received two penalty points, totaling seven in a 12-month period.“Car number 18 attempted an overtake on the inside of car number 31 at turn 1, but miscalculated the braking point and collided with car number 31”, the stewards explained in their report.
