Lance Stroll Penalized with Grid Penalty

Lance Stroll has been penalized with five grid positions for Sunday’s United States Grand Prix. The penalty is due to an incident in Saturday’s sprint race, where he collided with Esteban Ocon. The crash occurred at Turn 1 when Stroll attempted an overtake on the inside and, according to the stewards, misjudged the braking point, hitting Ocon.

“Car 18 attempted an overtake on the inside of car 31 at turn 1, but miscalculated the braking point and collided with car 31,” according to the stewards’ report.

Stewards’ Report
The collision caused the race, won by Max Verstappen, to end under the safety car. In addition to the grid penalty, Stroll received two penalty points, totaling seven in a 12-month period.
