Piastri conquers the Spanish Grand Prix and consolidates his lead

Formula 1 championship leader Oscar Piastri has secured a crucial victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, demonstrating his strength after some challenging weekends.

“It’s been a great year and this weekend has been exactly what I was looking for,” said Piastri after his fifth win in nine races.

Piastri’s victory, the seventh of his career at age 24, extended his lead over Lando Norris, who finished in second place, to ten points.

Norris had cut the gap to three points with his victory in Monaco last Sunday.

The Australian driver dominated the race from pole position, secured with the widest margin of the year so far, after also leading practice times at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Oscar Piastri ganó su quinta carrera de la temporada el domingo en el Gran Premio de España.

Norris, who has won two races this year, acknowledged Piastri’s performance.

“I think Oscar did a very good race today and had a good day yesterday. I had the pace to follow him, but not enough to try and catch him and put him in danger,” he commented.
